“The important thing is to not stop questioning…”

-Albert Einstein

At Amesbury Archer we believe that a high quality Science education provides the foundations for understanding the world. Science is all around us and scientific knowledge, understanding and skills are vital for the success of our future generations.

Teaching and Learning:

In the Early Years Foundation Stage, Science is taught through “Understanding of the World.” This involves guiding children to make sense of their physical world and their community through opportunities to explore, observe and find out about people, places, technology and the environment.

In Key Stages 1 and 2, Science is taught through the National Curriculum and involves a balance of knowledge and practical skills. Throughout primary schooling a key focus is ‘Working Scientifically’, which aims to provide children with valuable skills to think and act scientifically, critically and practically. Children’s natural curiosity of the world is nurtured through thought-provoking topics and a variety of enquiries; with which they can explore key questions and develop themselves as scientists.

Specific information regarding Science teaching can be found on your child’s class Topic Web.
